Bio: Mayer Hawthorne, the stage name for Andrew Mayer Cohen, started his music career as DJ Haircut in the Ann Arbor group Athletic Mic League. After playing in the Ann Arbor DJ scene, Hawthorne moved to Los Angeles and began releasing albums on Stones Throw Records. His shift into retro-sounding soul music gained him attention around the country. Hawthorne has played live with legendary keyboardist Booker T. Jones, and received a Grammy nomination in 2013 for “Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package” for his album “How Do You Do.” His newest album, “For All Time,” was released on Oct. 27, 2023, which will be followed by a world tour in early 2024.
