Bio: Jahshua Smith is a politically conscious emcee working through the Detroit hip-hop scene for many years now, with a new album slated for release in October, 2024. Much of his music focuses on U.S. politics, haven written lyrics about topics such as gun violence and anti-Black racism, as seen in songs like “Black Diamonds.” He told the Metro Detroit Times, “I had been gifted with the opportunity to attend Michigan State and the wealth of knowledge that came with that. Since then, I’ve felt it was a duty to use my voice to support my people in the fight for social justice.” When he’s not performing, he can be found helping mentor young people at the All Of the Above Hip Hop Academy.
