Bio: While she has garnered some national attention in recent years, indie-rock artist Stef Chura has been paying her dues in the Michigan music scene for quite some time. She first started playing shows in Ypsilanti after moving there from Alpena, before relocating to Detroit in 2012. Despite writing songs throughout this time, it took a few years and the death of a friend to push Chura to release her first studio album “Messes” in 2017, followed by “Midnight” in 2019 produced by Car Seat Headrest’s Will Toledo. NPR praised her “thrilling guitar riffs” and lyrical angst on “Midnight,” which led her to perform on NPR Live Session. Following the height COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns, Chura gave birth to her first child and began playing shows again in the metro Detroit area.
